Second Interview

Second Interview
Interviewer: Hui Zhang
Interviewee: Deayoung Lee
Date: 3/19/2011

Preparing:
This is my second interview project, and I have some experience. Firstly, I called my second interviewee. He is my friend, and he also comes from Korea. In this phone call I told him when and where we meet. Then, I prepared the interview questions and listed these questions. When I chose these questions, I went to library and printed these questions. Next, I think about this interview, and I want to ask him some questions out off my questions lists. For example, what his favorite sport is; what his favorite sport player is. Lastly, I called my interviewee, and I made sure when and where we meet for this interview. At that time we met at library and did this interview.

Country Report:
My interviewee comes from South Korea. His home city is Seoul. Seoul is the capital of South Korea. Location: Eastern Asia, southern half of the Korean Peninsula bordering the Sea of Japan and the Yellow Sea. Geographic coordinates: 3700N, 12730 E. Map references: Asia. Area: total: 99,720 sq km; country comparison to the world: 108; land: 96,920 sq km; water: 2,800 sq km. Area-comparative: slightly larger than Indiana. Coastline: 2413km. Population: 48,636,068 (July 2010 EST.), country comparison to the world: 26. [1]
My interviewee Lee likes playing soccer. From is this second interview I knew soccer is the famous sport in the Korea. In Korea many people like playing soccer. The Korea national team is a good team in the world. In 2002 the World Cup, Korea national team got Beaverton. Now, the most popular Korea soccer player is Park Ji-Sung. He is the best Korea soccer player now. In Korea, many young people like playing a computer game it name is StarCraft. This game is very popular in Korea, and many people play this game. Korea has some good StarCraft players, and they are very popular. For example, Lim Yo-Hwan, Lee JaeDong, and so on. They are very famous in the world.
My first interviewee HanSole Hyun likes eating Kimchi. My second interviewee Lee also likes eating Kimchi. Kimchi is the famous food in Korea, and also the traditional food in Korea.

Description of interview:
This is my second interviewer. From first interviewer I learned some experience. Then I use the experience in my second interviewer. I think second interview is better than first one. In second interviewer I also learned a lot of different things. Because of my second interviewee is a male. I asked some different questions. I knew more and more information about Korea. I think this interviewer project is useful and important. In this interviewer I knew an international student. I learned different culture, and knew more and more information about South Korea. In second interview project, I improve my knowledge, that how to be an interviewer. Maybe I have some problems but I think I can do it better in last interview. Because in these two interviews I learned a lot of useful knowledge and experience. I think this interviewer project is good for me, and for my English studying.

Interviewee (Lee): I am fine, but too busy. I have some homework need to do.

Interviewee (Lee): My name is Deayoung Lee. I do not have English name, because Lee is easy to say, and in English it also has this name.
Interviewer (Hui): Yes! Your name is easy to say and remember. Where are you from?
Interviewee (Lee): I come from Korea. My home city is Seoul. It is the capital of Korea.
Interviewer (Hui): Do you a Korea girl? Her name is HanSole Hyun, and she also comes from Seoul.
Interviewee (Lee): Yes, I do. She is very kind.
Interviewer (Hui): Do you grow up in Seoul?
Interviewee (Lee): Yes.
Interviewer (Hui): Do you have brothers or sisters?
Interviewee (Lee): I have a sister and a brother. My brother is younger than me. My sister is older than me.
Interviewer (Hui): What is your favorite sport?
Interviewee (Lee): My favorite sport is soccer. I like playing soccer with my friends. There is lot people play soccer in Korea, and Korea national team is good.
Interviewer (Hui): What is your favorite soccer player?
Interviewee (Lee): My favorite soccer player is Messi. Now, he is the best soccer player in the world. However, my favorite Korea soccer player is Park Ji-Sung. Many Korea people like him.
Interviewer (Hui): Do you like playing computer games or video games?
Interviewee (Lee): Yes, I do. I like playing computer games.
Interviewer (Hui): What is your favorite computer game?
Interviewee (Lee): My favorite computer game is StarCraft. This game is very popular in Korea, and many people play this game. Korea has some good StarCraft players, and they are very popular. For example, Lim Yo-Hwan, Lee JaeDong, and so on.
Interviewer (Hui): I know them, because I like playing this game, and sometime times I watched they match. What is your favorite food?
Interviewee (Lee): My favorite food is Kimchi. I like it very much.
Interviewer (Hui): Kimchi is the famous Korea food, and many people like eating Kimchi. Do you like American food?
Interviewee (Lee): I do not like American food, except plaza. I like plaza.
Interviewer (Hui): I also like plaza. Can you speak other language except English and your native language?
Interviewee (Lee): Yes, I can.
Interviewer (Hui): Which language?
Interviewee (Lee): Japanese. I have leaned Japanese.
Interviewer (Hui): How difficult for you to learn English?
Interviewee (Lee): I think English is not for me. In my English studying, I think grammar, writing and pronunciation are difficult for me.
Interviewer (Hui): Does America exceed your expectations or is it different than what you were expecting?
Interviewee (Lee): In my opinion, America is a good country. It is a freedom country. I like studying and living in here.
Interviewer (Hui): Why did you decide to come to SCSU for studying?
Interviewee (Lee): Because before I came here, I in the university in Korea. My university every semester sends Korea students to here. I am an exchange student. I just study in here for one year, then I will go back.
Interviewer (Hui): Why do you like study and live in here?
Interviewee (Lee): Because in here people are very friendly, and I made a lot of friends. Sometimes they help me, if I need some help. Here is beautiful and clean. The environment is very good, and it is good for studying and living.
Interviewer (Hui): What is your major?
Interviewee (Lee): My major is international business.
Interviewer (Hui): Why do you choose this major? Do you like this major?
Interviewee (Lee): Because my father is a businessman, and he has a company. He wants me can work in his company in the future. I like this major. It has some challenge.
Interviewer (Hui): What are some cultural differences between your country and American?
Interviewee (Lee): They have different cultures. For example, eating cultures, festival, and so on.
Interviewer (Hui): How does the climate in your home country compare to here?
Interviewee (Lee): Here is very cold. My home city is warm.
Interviewer (Hui): How many countries have you visited?
Interviewee (Lee): I have visited to China and Japan.

My First Interview

Prepartions:
My interviewee was my classmate in ESL class in last semester. When I knew I need to do this interview project, I went my Facebook and talked with her I need do this project and got her phone number. Then I prepared the interview questions and listed about 14 questions. I chose these questions from my Google blog. Then I went to library and printed these questions. I checked my interview questions. Next I called interviewee, and talked when and where we meet for this interview. At that time we met at library and did this interview.

Country Report:
My interviewee comes from South Korea. Her home city is Seoul. Seoul is the capital of South Korea. My interviewee told me Kimchi is the famous food in Korea. She like eating Kimchi. In every meal she eats Kimchi. When she came here, she took some Kimchi to here. She told me in Korea, people eat rice, noodles, vegetable and also eat tofu. People in Korea do not eat meat very often, because neat in Korea is expensive.
Korean cuisine is largely based on rice, noodles, tofu, vegetables, fish and meats. Traditional Korean meals are noted for the number of side dishes, banchan, which accompany steam-cooked short-grain rice. Every meal is accompanied by numerous banchan. Kimchi, a fermented, usually spicy vegetable dish is commonly served at every meal and is one of the best known Korean dishes. Korean cuisine usually involves heavy seasoning with sesame oil, doenjang, a type of fermented soybean paste, soy sauce, salt, garlic, ginger, and gochujang, a hot pepper paste. [2]

In this interviewer I learned a lot of things. I think this interviewer project is useful and important. In this interviewer I knew an international student, and I made friend with her. I learned different culture, and knew more and more information about South Korea. I never do an interview, and to be an interviewer.
